After losing the first game of the Super 8’s against New Zealand in the 2007 World T20, India were required to win both their remaining games against England and South Africa to progress to the semi-finals. After beating England, they were up against the hosts of the tournament.

India held their nerves and steamrolled South Africa by 37 runs at the Kingsmead in Durban. After losing four early wickets, India found themselves in a precarious position. Nevertheless, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni guided them to a respectable 153 runs.

Graeme Smith’s men were never in contention to trace down the target and finished with 116 runs in 20 overs. Barring Mark Boucher and Albie Morkel’s knocks worth 36, no other South African batsman breached the single-figure mark. RP Singh was India’s standout performer with four wickets for 13 runs.
