Murali Vijay congratulates Team India after victory in Durban
The 33-year old will play for Tamil Nadu in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In the first one-day international of the series, Virat Kohli, and co. registered an emphatic victory against the Proteas. India’s test opener Murali Vijay was delighted after the victory, Vijay has traveled back home after the Test series but the Chennai Super Kings batsman is keeping a close eye on the proceedings. South Africa procured the freedom series by defeating India 2-1, the 33-year-old Vijay had a disappointing outing in the three tests.
The Men in Blue ended South Africa’s seventeen match winning streak at home as Captain Virat Kohli scored his 33rd century in one-day internationals. On the other hand, India’s new number four batsman Ajinkya Rahane welcome Kohli’s move with a gutsy 79 to put India on top. After this comprehensive victory, Murali Vijay took to Twitter to congratulate the Indian side. Vijay wrote: “Clearly shows the hunger we have to conquer this battle!! Kohli and his men took the field in Durban with the momentum they build in the third test at Wanderers, the Men in Blue seemed confident as ever as they took the field in the first ODI. The South African skipper Faf Du Plessis put India onto the field after winning the toss and the Indian bowlers responded brilliantly, they reduced the Proteas to 269 in their allocated 50 overs. Proteas Captain Faf Du Plessis scored a magnificent ton to guide his team to a respectable total.

The Indian openers started the innings in a blistering way before Rohit Sharma was dismissed trying to up the ante. Morne Morkel bowled impressively in his first spell, he was extracting bounce from the wicket and the Indian batsmen were put into a bit of trouble. Rohit’s counterpart Shikhar Dhawan was run out for a well made 35, Dhawan was looking set for a big inning before there was a communication error between him and the skipper. India’s latest recruit at number four, Ajinkya Rahane did the job alongside Captain Kohli.
Both Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane were dismissed playing ordinary shots, MS Dh0ni finished the game with a boundary for the umpteenth time. Virat Kohli was awarded the man of the match award for his scintillating knock of 112. The Proteas will look to bounce back in the second one-day international on Sunday.
