South Africa vs Pakistan: Sharjeel Khan hilariously misjudges a catch in 2nd T20I
Sharjeel Khan was playing his first game for Pakistan in 4 years.
Pakistan fielders and committing comical mistakes on the field is a match made in heaven. Barring a few exceptions, most of the Pakistan players have earned the reputation of not being the best fielders. Time and again, one has seen the Pakistan fielders making heavy weather of the easiest of catches. And the latest player from to do something similar is Sharjeel Khan.
Incidentally, the game was Sharjeel’s first for Pakistan in four years. Recently, he had faced criticism for his poor fitness and the recent incident would surely give his critics another reason to take shots at him. The left-handed batsman came up with a poor effort during the second T20I against South Africa in Johannesburg on Monday.
The incident took place on the third ball of the 13th over when Usman Qadir was bowling to George Linde. Qadir bowled a googly and Linde decided to loft it over the fielder at long-on. He, however, could not make good contact with the ball.
The ball hit the bottom of his bat and was going straight to Sharjeel at long-on before the Pakistan opener decided to make a mess of it. He completely misjudged the catch and ran too far in. The ball landed well behind him as Sharjeel was left expressing surprise over what just happened. In the meantime, the fielder at long-off came running in and stopped the ball from going past the boundary ropes.
