South Africa vs Pakistan: Yasir Shah sent for a knee scan in a Johannesburg hospital
The leggie was ruled out of the third Test at the Wanderers.
The Pakistan cricket team is currently touring South Africa and is playing the third Test at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. The visitors are trailing the three-match series by a margin of 2-0, having lost the first two Tests. Yasir Shah, who was dropped for the third Test is learnt to have been sent for a knee scan in a hospital in Johannesburg as confirmed by a source via Twitter. There has been no further update regarding the same at the moment, however, would be revealed later.
Shah, who was picked as the frontline leg spinner for the first and second Test in Centurion and Cape Town respectively couldn’t yield any fruitful returns. The 32-year old picked a solitary wicket in the couple of Tests he featured in, thus was unable to make much of an impact.
The leggie was ruled out of the third Test and instead, Shadab Khan was picked, who also gives an added advantage of playing a decent inning with the bat.
Here’s the source of the news
Yasir Shah was particularly impressive in the preceding Test series where he took 29 wickets in three Test against New Zealand in the UAE. Shah also took an eight-wicket haul in the first innings of the second Test of the series and a six-for to follow in the second innings. However, in the bouncy tracks, Shah hasn’t quite got into the groove to trouble the Proteas batsmen.
Pakistan clawing its way back in
Meanwhile, at the New Wanderers, South Africa have been slightly pegged back after a brilliant partnership between Aiden Markram and Hashim Amla. The first wicket of the stand-in-captain Dean Elgar fell in the 2nd over as he edged one to Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Faf du Plessis, who faced a suspension due to a slow over rate, was replaced by Zubayr Hamza, making his debut. In the middle order, all three batsmen in Hashim Amla, Theunis de Bruyn, and Hamza got starts and departed for scores of 41, 49, and 41 respectively. However, none of them could go on to notch a big score.
The hosts, after being driven by Markram’s flamboyant innings of 90, were bowled out for 262 runs in 77.4 overs.
