South Africa vs West Indies Head to Head record in T20Is and T20 World Cup
South Africa dominate West Indies in terms of overall head-to-head record in T20Is.
South Africa will lock horns with West Indies in their upcoming assignment in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The encounter takes place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on October 26. Both sides suffered defeats in their respective opening fixtures and would like to get a better result this time around. Unlike the previous ICC tournaments this decade, South Africa aren’t deemed favourites for this competition. Hence, they have a point to prove. On the other hand, West Indies would fight to defend their title.
Head to Head record:
Although the Caribbean team is being deemed favourites for this fixture, South Africa dominate West Indies in terms of overall head-to-head record in T20Is. These two teams have played 15 T20I matches so far. Out of which 9 have been won by the Proteas side and West Indies have won the other six games. As far as T20 World Cups are concerned, these two teams have met thrice and the head-to-head record is 2-1 in South Africa’s favour.

Top performers:
Veteran Caribbean batter Chris Gayle has a sensational record against England. He has scored the most runs (362) in the clashes. Among active cricketers, the dasher is followed by Quinton de Kock (302) and Lendl Simmons (198). Among the bowlers, Dwayne Bravo has picked up the most wickets (15). He is followed by Obed McCoy (9) and Kagiso Rabada (8).
Last T20 World Cup meeting:
As mentioned above, these two sides have met three times in T20 World Cups. The last of those meetings was recorded in the 2016 edition. West Indies won the toss on a tricky Nagpur track and elected to bowl first. While Quinton de Kock held one end, he couldn’t get any substantial support. David Wiese and Chris Morris played some handy shots towards the end as South Africa posted 122/8.
Although the target seemed mediocre, West Indies’ chase wasn’t smooth by any means. Like the Proteas side, West Indies also lost wickets at regular intervals. However, crucial contributions from Marlon Samuels and Johnson Charles saw West Indies winning the game by three wickets with a couple of deliveries to spare.
