Spidercam interrupting the game is never a nice feeling: Virat Kohli
Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli said that he is not against the idea of using Spidercam in Test matches as long as it doesn’t interrupt the field of play or affecting or delaying the proceedings of the match.
Spidercam has so far been used in ODIs and T20Is but was never used in Test matches. However, it will be firstly used in Tests in India against New Zealand, which is India’s 500th Test match. Earlier this year in Sydney, Kohli’s uppercut off the bowling of John Hastings in the 5th ODI of the series has hit the Spidercam and went to the boundary ropes, but the umpire called it a dead ball.
“It’s something which has been added for the entertainment of the people. People to get a different view and perspective about the game, how the game is seen or looked at from different positions from the ground. That’s one thing which is achieved through the Spidercam,” said the Indian Test skipper.
Kohli also said that everything introduced new will have some flaws and it needs to be corrected to make sure that it doesn’t come into the guidelines of the game. “Everything you do or introduce will have flaws and those need to be corrected and make sure that Spidercam doesn’t come into the guidelines of the game, or becomes too interactive and starts interrupting the field of play. That’s not logical,” added the 27-year old.
