‘Sport is beautiful’ – Virat Kohli privileged to share his journey with AB de Villiers
Kohli and ABD are the all-time leading run-scorers for RCB in the IPL.
Virat Kohli hasn’t had the best of outings thus far in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has failed to cross the double-digit score in two out of three matches. However, his team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have made a fair enough start, winning two of their first three games. The franchise will now be hoping for Kohli to strike some form at the earliest.
Kohli, along with AB de Villiers, has been an integral part of the Challengers. Even as Kohli has been playing for RCB since the inaugural edition back in 2008, ABD joined the team back in 2011 after spending three years with the Delhi Daredevils, now Capitals. In the meantime, the 31-year-old Kohli shared an adorable post to pay tribute to the former South Africa cricketer.
He uploaded a picture and wrote, “The most special thing about sport is the friendship and mutual respect you share with your teammates along your journey. Sport is beautiful.” Kohli and ABD have shared a number of match-winning partnerships, though RCB are yet to get their hands on the IPL trophy after 12 completed seasons.
Here’s Virat Kohli’s post
Earlier, the Delhi-born Virat revealed the reason why he addresses de Villiers as ‘biscuit’. The veteran also went down the memory lane and talked about their first meeting back in 2011 at Johannesburg.
“I picked it from South African slang, so people that you like, you are close to, you call them biscuit, biscotti. Because everyone loves biscuits, right?” Kohli was quoted as saying in one of the videos posted by RCB.
“In 2011, Johannesburg is when we said hello to each other properly. It was at the stadium where there is a tunnel where we come out through. They had already practiced and we arrived for practice and I said – Hello, I am really looking forward to playing with you (at RCB). He responded by saying he was also excited to play for RCB,” he added.
The Challengers are set to play their fourth game of this IPL against Steve Smith’s Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday, October 3 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
