SRH keeper Wriddhiman Saha reveals the possible source of his COVID-19 infection

Wriddhiman Saha tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this month along with a few other cricketers as well. In fact, several players from various IPL teams had also contracted the disease, and as a result, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had no choice but to suspend the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Now, Saha has tested negative for Covid-19 and has even gone back home. And, Saha has opened up on how he could have possibly contracted the disease. Saha stated that the Hyderabad side had used the airport and had landed in Delhi to play a match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side.

The wicket-keeper added that if he had contracted the disease there, he would have got the symptoms before the match against CSK. Saha revealed that the day before he tested positive, around four members from the CSK camp had shown symptoms of Covid-19.

He also stated that he had interacted with a few CSK players as well, and might have contracted the disease from the CSK camp.

“We used the airport, landed in Delhi, and even played the CSK game there. So, if I had contracted the virus at the airport, the symptoms could’ve shown up before or during the CSK game itself. The day before I returned positive, 2 to 4 CSK members showed symptoms.

And two days before that, we had played versus Chennai and I was present at the ground. I had interacted with a few CSK guys during practice, so I feel that could have been the source,” said Saha as quoted by India Today.

Wriddhiman Saha opens up on playing the IPL in the UAE

Wriddhiman Saha also added that when the IPL was conducted in the UAE last year, there was nobody around the players even during practice sessions. He also added that in India, the cricketers share the space with the groundsmen and even a few people peep in to see the players. Saha concluded by stating that nobody breached the bubble in the UAE last year.

“When we played in the UAE last year, there used to be no one around us even during practice sessions. But here, we are sharing the space with groundsmen, people outside the ground are also peeping through the gates or over the wall. Nobody breached the bubble, so there must have been some small opening somewhere either through the driver, the Chennai team, or somebody at the ground,” concluded Saha.
