The team selection committee has included several vital players in the squad including Hasini Perera, Nilakshi de Silva, Oshadi Ranasinghe, and Inoka Ranaweera. Youngster Vishmi Gunaratne, who is yet to make her 50-over debut for Sri Lanka, has also been named in both T20I and ODI squads.
The first match of the series will be played on June 23 (Thursday)
At first, both teams will take on each other in a three-match T20I series. The first match of the series will be played on June 23 (Thursday) with the final encounter to take place on June 27 (Monday). All the T20I matches will be played in Dambulla. Talking about the ODI series, it will be a part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 cycle. The ODI series will be played between July 1 and July 7 and all the matches will take place in Pallekele.
The 50-over series will be very important for the home side, as they finished at the last position in the previous cycle of the ICC Women’s Championship. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka had to face a series defeat at the hands of Pakistan recently and they will be keen to make a comeback against the visitors India in the upcoming series.
On the other hand, Team India will be playing their first match of the current ICC Women’s Championship cycle. With Mithali Raj retiring from international cricket, Harmanpreet Kaur has been named as Team India skipper and the BCCI has already announced their squad for the upcoming tour.
