The Sri Lankan cricket team has been in the news for all the wrong reasons recently. After suffering a white wash at the hands of India, there have been reports about a ban on biscuits in the dressing room. According to SriLanka’s team manager Asanka Gurusinha, the cricketers are not allowed to have biscuits in the dressing room.

Just yesterday, reports suggested that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had decided to sack the team manager Gurusinha from the role following a series of allegations against him and the recent turn of events. On his part he made it clear that reports of a fight between him and the players on this issue and that they broke the crockery in protest is rubbish.

“Our physio and trainer are in charge of food at game and they have banned biscuits in the changing room. The other day there were biscuits in the changing room and I informed the catering staff to take it out as our trainer did not want the players to eat in the changing room,” Gurusinha said.

“There was absolutely no argument with any players or support staff on this issue. In fact the players were even not aware that the biscuits were kept in the changing room. When the players heard this rumour, they even called me and told me not to worry and they all know that the news was not true and that they are all behind me,” he further added.

Denies rumours

The team manager also denied any reports of him resigning or being sacked from his position. He said that there is no truth behind the rumours and shouldn’t be paid much heed. It was later learned that the manager has not been asked to leave. Gurusinha has been contracted with the SLC board till 2019. Sri Lanka will take on India in the limited-overs series later this month, and they will look to get to the winning ways after being on the receiving end through out the Test series.
