Sri Lanka name squad for U-19 Youth Asia Cup, Dunith Wellalage to lead

The Under-19 Youth Asia Cup will be held from 23rd December 2021 to 31st December 2021. And, the Sri Lankan side has named its squad for the event. The tournament is slated to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This squad has been approved by Namal Rajapaksa, who is the Minister of Youth and Sports. Also, the official Twitter handle of Sri Lanka Cricket also confirmed the news as well.  You can see the tweet from the official Twitter handle of Sri Lanka Cricket below.

Dunith Wellalage has been named as the skipper of the Sri Lanka U-19 side

The Sri Lanka U-19 side will be led by Dunith Wellalage. Raveen De Silva will be the vice-captain of the side for the tournament. Wellalage has played a total of 5 first-class and 4 List A Matches.

While Wellalage has scored 139 runs in first-class cricket, the left-arm spinner has taken 20 wickets with the ball. In List A Cricket, Wellalage has scored 24 runs and prized out 8 batters.

The U-19 Asia Cup was actually scheduled to take place in November 2020 but was postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Sharjah and Dubai will host the entire tournament. The opening match of the U-19 Youth Asia Cup will be played between India and UAE. The city of Dubai will host the opening fixture.
