Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe, ODI series 2017 – Statistical Preview

Sri Lanka will be hosting Zimbabwe in a 5-match series which could give them a promotion to No.7 in the ICC ODI rankings in case they manage to sweep it 5-0 win. The visitors will be looking to grab a few points to have a shot at World Cup qualification. Both the sides, who are not in their best forms will be facing off in only their 5th bilateral ODI series and first in 9 years with all the 5 series’ won by the Lankan side.

49 – Wickets Tendai Chatara and Sean Williams have taken in ODI format so far. Both need one more wicket to complete 50 wickets in this format. If Chatara completes the milestone in the next game he will be the joint 2nd fastest Zimbabwe player to take 50 ODI wickets.
294 – Wickets Lasith Malinga has taken in ODIs so far; he needs 6 more wickets to become the 14th player in this format and the 4th player from Sri Lanka to take 300 wickets.
972 – Runs Kusal Mendis has scored so far in ODI cricket; he needs 28 more runs to complete 1000 ODI runs. If he completes the milestone in his next innings, he will become the joint 2nd fastest Sri Lankan to complete 1000 runs in ODIs.
2008 – Last time Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe faced each other in a bilateral ODI series was in 2008 in Zimbabwe. Sri Lanka have won the 5-match series 5-0.
5986 – Runs Upul Tharanga has scored in ODIs so far; he needs 14 more runs to become the 8th Sri Lankan to aggregate 6000 runs in this format.
