Sri Lanka and Bangladesh find themselves in the Super 1 stage after clearing the preliminary round of the T20 World Cup 2021. Although the two sides did pretty well against the associate nations, they’ll now face full-member teams and the challenge is set to advance to an entirely different level. Meanwhile, these two sides will meet each other in their respective first assignments of the T20 World Cup 2021. The game takes place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on October 24 (Sunday). With the other teams in the group being daunting, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh should look to make a winning start.
Head to Head record:
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka dominate Bangladesh in terms of head-to-head record in T20Is. These two teams have played 11 T20I matches against each other. Out of which seven have been won by the Lankan Lions and the Bangla Tigers have won seven games. Sanath Jayasuriya bagged a duck as Sri Lanka looked on the backfoot.
However, substantial contributions from Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, and Jehan Mubarak took Sri Lanka to 147/5. Bangladesh’s chase never went smooth as Chaminda Vaas and Dilhara Fernando rattled their batting line-up. They eventually got bundled out for 83, losing the contest by 64 runs.
