After reducing the Indians to 339-7 and India losing Saha, Chandimal should have hoped to dismiss the tail of the Indians within 360-370. Sri Lanka would believe that they gave 110 runs too many to the visitors looking at the India score in the first innings.
It was the partnership between Kuldeep and Pandya which started the stretch of the Indian score. The duo added important 61 runs down the order to frustrate the Lankan bowlers. Pandya followed it up by stitching a vital last wicket partnership of 66 off just 8.1 overs with Umesh Yadav.
