After their stellar performance against the Indians in the second innings of the Colombo Test, the Sri Lankans fan would have hoped for a better reply from the Lankans. However, it all turned out along the same pattern as the series, with a dismal reply from the home side in their first innings. They gave the Indian’s yet another opportunity to ponder over a follow on or bat again. Kohli then asked the Lankans to bat again much like in the Colombo Test.

In reply to India’s 487, Sri Lanka could only manage a total of 135 and could only survive for 37.4 overs to question their cricketing standards in Test matches. They were bundled out within 50th over in the Galle Test as well and were asked to follow on. They also lost the wicket of Tharanga while following on in the second innings.
