Apart from Kuldeep Yadav, the entire bowling unit had a field day at work as Ashwin and Shami both picked a couple of wickets. Mohammad Shami was in the middle of an unplayable spell with the new ball as he took the wickets of Karunaratne and Tharanga up front. Umesh Yadav also cleaned up Tharanga in the second innings with a peach of a delivery.

It was as if whatever Pandya touched today turned to gold as he removed Angelo Matthews from the equation. Ashwin took the priced scalp of Chandimal, who was threatening to make an important contribution but ended up with 48. Shami ended with figures of 2-17 in 6.5 overs while Ashwin ended up with 2-22 in 8.4 overs. All the bowlers claimed at least a wicket each as the Lankans found India too hot to handle.
