Sri Lankan fans win heart at the R Premadasa following their support for Team India
The Indians have been overwhelmed by the fans in Sri Lanka.
Nidahas trophy, the tri-series final saw some thrilling games with India eventually lifting the trophy by beating Bangladesh on the last ball of the series. Extra-ordinary innings from Dinesh Karthik meant that the Bangladeshis’ felt once again to cross the line at a crucial time as Indians held their nerves.
Earlier, the dramatic virtual semifinal between the host Sri Lanka and Bangladesh saw some thrilling matches but what made the news more was the antiques from the Bangladeshi side. The last over of the match saw Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan asking Mahmudullah to come off the field as he was protesting against umpires decisions.
Nurul Islam, 24-year-old substitute player was seen pointing fingers at Sri Lanka skipper Thisara Perera. Mahmudullah had kept himself cool and smashed a six to seal the final berth on the penultimate ball of the match. The tussle continued as another Bangladeshi player Sohan Gazi involved himself in an altercation with Kusal Mendis. Later it was revealed that Bangladeshi players while celebrating their win against the hosts broke the dressing room glass.
Sri Lanka is a passionate cricket nation. On social media, the Lankan fans had announced that they will support the Indians to register their anger against arrogant and immature behavior from the Bangladeshi side.
Sri Lankan supporters cheered for India throughout the match
When Rohit Sharma came out to bat, the R Premadasa Stadium at Colombo was chanting his name. Every boundary from the Indians was cheered loudly while a wicket made the crowd go numb.
Eventually, It was Dinesh Karthik who made sure India crossed the line on the last ball as Bangladesh failed to keep their nerves after his 8-ball onslaught.
Indian skipper took the lap of honors after the game along with one of very famous Sri Lanka fanUncle Percy. He thanked the crowd for rooting the Indians for the finals during the post-match presentation.
A Twitter user shared a video where a Sri Lankan fan Mohammed Nilam was running carrying India’s superfan Sudhir while he waved the Indian flag.
