Sri Lankan government launches probe after dressing room vandalization incident

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh clashed during the virtual semi-final of the Nidahas Trophy at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Shakib Al Hasan’s men brushed aside the hosts and thus earned a berth in the final to be played against India on Sunday at the same venue. However, the apart from some sterling cricket, the match also witness to a shameful incident.
After the game, the glass door of the Bangladesh dressing room was found broken. The occurring is suspected to have happened during Mahmudullah’s match-winning six off left-arm seamer Isuru Udana. As per reports in dnaindia.com, the country’s government has launched a probe into the incident of property damage.
The inconclusive video
A video footage has been extracted from the CCTV cameras placed, however, the identity of the person hasn’t been unveiled. The camera captured a number of Bangladesh cricketers scampering down the staircase in front of the dressing room with shards of glasses on the stairs. Meanwhile, Chris Broad, the match referee, has instructed the ground management to review the video and churn out the clues.
The catering staff reportedly mentioned the name of the player, however, Broad dismissed the claims and asked the officials to solve the matter. However, the Bangladesh team management has offered to pay for the damage. Apart from this, there were also a couple of outrageous incidents that sparked during the game between the Asian giants.
Shoyeb Ali, a Bangladeshi fan claimed to have been beaten by a Sri Lankan supporter in the presence of police. Subsequently, they lashed out to the media. Earlier, the Sri Lankan players barged into a Bangladesh substitute fielder when he was on the ground for serving drinks. The high voltage final game of the series will be played between India and Bangladesh on March 18. The series was organized to celebrate Sri Lanka’s 70th independence anniversary.
