While the icon players were paid handsomely during the 4-day long tournament, Sri Lankan players were not treated properly as per the reports. Icon players received a hefty amount of money (35,000 USD), international players got 25000 USD, First-class cricketers were paid 15000 USD and the emerging players got 10000 USD for featuring in the tournament. No support from the board
Chandika Hathurusingha who took charge as the Sri Lanka coach was doing his first press conference. Sri Lankan Cricket Board president Thilanga Sumathipala was questioned by a journalist on the same payment issue in the T10 league. Sumathipala said that it was not a Sri Lanka team, instead, It was a provincial team. Can we say that player like Chandimal who is the Test captain of the national side didn’t need the board’s approval before joining such leagues or there’s something more to it and that is why the SLC president tried to dodge the question?
