Sri Lankan team was forced to stay mid-air for a while before landing in Kolkata

Team India will soon be facing a similar opponent in the form of the Asian side Sri Lanka. Before the series against New Zealand and Australia, the Indians had trashed the Lankan side in all the three formats of the game on their tour to the Island country. While India picked up a closely fought series victories in ODI and T20I series against the Kiwis, the visitors faced a torrid time against Pakistan in limited-overs cricket.
Sri Lanka put up a brave performance in the Test to win it 2-0. However, they failed to perform even at half their capacity in the succeeding ODI series, where they hit a rock-bottom with the bat in their hand. Pakistan, meanwhile performed better to whitewash the opponents in the ODI and T20I formats.
Will there be a change of fortune against India?
The Sri Lankan team arrived in India today starting their 46-day tour where they will be playing three Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is. However, the Lankan cricketers didn’t quite have the best of starts to the tour as they had to spend some anxious moments in the Kolkata skies, as the Sri Lankan airlines from Colombo was not allowed to land.
The Air Traffic control did not allow the Sri Lankan airlines to land for a long time before the issue was settled following deliberations. Following the landing, the cricketers finished immigration to head straight to their hotel rooms.
Sri Lanka has never won a Test match in India
There will be a practise session for the Sri Lankan cricket team tomorrow at the Jadavpur University campus in Salt Lake. Dinesh Chandimal & Co. will be facing the Board President’s XI for the warmup matches from November 11 before the series opener on the 16th.
They have a poor record against the home side, with a 0% Test win record in India, with ten defeats and seven draws in the 17 games that they have played in the country.
