The St. Lucia Zouks have added New Zealand all-rounder Grant Elliott to their squad ahead of the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL)campaign as Eddie Leie has been ruled out due to a finger injury.
South African-born Elliott, who was a star for the Black Caps on their march to the ICC Cricket World Cup final in 2015, has played 16 T20 Internationals to date and boasts a career first-class batting average of 30.57. With the ball, the medium-pace bowler has also claimed 92 first-class wickets and will add greater competition to the Zouks panel ahead of their CPL opener against Trinbago Knight Riders in the Queen’s Park Oval on Wednesday, 29 June.
Elliott joins an overseas contingent which also includes Australia duo Shane Watson and Michael Hussey, South African duo David Miller and Morne Morkel and will be captained once more by Darren Sammy, one of three ICC World T20 champions in the Zouks panel alongside Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher.
The Zouks will take on four opponents in a combination of day and night time games in a big month for the island with the hugely popular Lucian Carnival set to attract big numbers to the island once more.
