Here’s the Post

Nehra put an end to his inspirational 18-year-old career and the Indian team ensured that the old warhorse of Indian cricket was treated with a befitting farewell.

Twitter flooded in with congratulatory messages for Ashish Nehra from prominent cricketing personalities such as Kumar Sangakkara, Tom Moody and Azhar Mahmood, hailed his contribution to the game.

“Trust me, I have had an eventful 20 years. I am not a very emotional person. The next 20 years is what I am looking forward to. Hopefully, it will be as eventful as it has been since I started playing for Delhi in 1997,” added the Indian veteran who went under the knife a record number of times throughout his career.

The only regret for Nehra in his glittering career was the afternoon of the 2003 World Cup finals at Jo’Burg where the Indian bowlers were plundered all across the ground by the Australian batsmen.

“It’s been a great journey. Maybe one regret. If I could change anything in these 20 years, that afternoon in Johannesburg during the 2003 World Cup final. But nothing else as it’s all about destiny,” stated Delhi veteran.
