Statistical Preview of the 2016 tri-series in West Indies

The ODI format is set to resume after a gap of a few months as the focus was just on the Twenty20s with the World T20 in March-April and the IPL closely following it. This year as West Indies gets ready to host the ODI tri-series against Australia and South Africa. It also marks West Indies’ debut in hosting a complete International series under lights. With just a day left for the series to start, here we look at stats, approaching milestones for the players and many more.
0 – West Indies participated in 3 ODI tournaments which were hosted by West Indies; 2 tri-series and a World Cup. West Indies failed to win even in one of those 3 tournaments.
1 – This is the first non-ICC event which includes West Indies, Australia and South Africa in a same ODI tournament.
1 – Marlon Samuels need 1 more six to become 4th West Indian to hit 100 sixes in ODI cricket.

2 – Jason Holder need 2 more wickets to complete 50 wickets in ODI cricket.
3 – Number of Day/Night ODI matches hosted by West Indies prior to this series. 1st one in 2006 where West Indies defeated Zimbabwe by 10 wickets, 2nd in 2008 between WI and Sri Lanka which was washed out and last one was in 2014 in which WI defeated Bangladesh by 91 runs. This tri-series will have 9 league games and a final and all the matches will be played under lights.
5 – AB de Villiers needs to play in 5 more games to become 5th South African to represent them in 200 games in ODI cricket.
6 – The upcoming tri-series will be 6th ODI tournament on West Indies soil. First was WI-Pak-Zim tri-series in 2000, Associate tri-series in 2006 and 2007, ICC World Cup in 2007 and the WI-India-SL tri-series in 2013.
8 – Number of ODI tournaments including West Indies, Australia and South Africa. All of those are ICC events. Australia won 6 of them while West Indies and South Africa managed to win one each.
8 – Imran Tahir need 8 wickets to become first South African spinner to take 100 wickets in ODI cricket.
10 – Mitchell Starc need 10 wickets to complete 100 wickets in ODI cricket. If he takes 6 or lesser games for those 10 wickets, he will be the fastest to complete 100 wickets in ODI cricket.
11 – AB de Villiers needs 11 sixes to become 1st South African and 6th player overall to hit 300 sixes in International cricket.
16 – AB de Villiers needs 16 sixes to become 1st South African and 5th player in overall to hit 200 sixes in ODI cricket.
16 – AB de Villiers needs 16 sixes to overhaul Ricky Ponting sixes as captain in International cricket. Ricky Ponting holds the record for the most sixes (125 sixes) as a captain in Intl cricket. Among the active players, MS Dhoni has 121 while AB de Villiers has 108.
66– Faf du Plessis needs to score 66 more runs to complete 3000 runs in ODI cricket.

127 – James Faulkner needs to score 126 more runs to complete 1000 runs in ODI cricket.

140 – RileeRossouw needs to score 140 more runs to complete 1000 runs in ODI cricket.
