Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his impressive performances for Mumbai in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy where he struck his 3rd century of the competition. Jaiswal ensured he converted this ton a big one as he went on to score a double hundred. He was dismissed in the final over after scoring 203 off 154 balls where he smashed 17 fours and 12 sixes. The double ton from the 17-year-old’s bat ensured Mumbai put on a big total of 358/3 against Jharkhand.

He shared a 200-run opening partnership with Aditya Tare who scored 78 off 102 deliveries. Later, the youngster added 105 for the 2nd wicket with Siddhesh Lad in only 10.4 overs. Chasing a big total, Jharkhand had a 171-run stand for the 4th wicket. But they were eventually bowled out for 319 with another 20 balls left in the innings. Mumbai move up to No.3 in the Elite Group A & B points table of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20 with the 39-run win in this game.

Youngest double centurions in List A cricket:

Yashasvi Jaiswal was only 17 years and 292 days old which makes him the youngest double centurion in List A cricket’s history. In fact, the Mumbai opener is also the first teenager to score a double ton in this format. Alan Barrow was 20 years and 275 days old when he scored an unbeaten 202 for Natal in 1975.

It was only the 2nd double hundred ever recorded in the List A cricket. Among Indians, the previous youngest was Sanju Samson who was 24 years and 335 days old last Saturday in Alur.

Yashasvi Jaiswal second youngest if Women’s cricket is also considered

Yashasvi will still be among the top 10 youngest lists if the double centurions in first-class cricket are also considered. In fact, he is the 3rd youngest Indian and overall, the 8th youngest player to score a double hundred in professional cricket.

If the Women’s List A is also considered, Yashasvi Jaiswal will move down to No.2 in this list. Amelia Kerr was 17 years and 243 days old when she scored an unbeaten 232 against Ireland last year.
