Stats: Australia Women seals the T20I series with yet another win in the Women’s Ashes

After winning ODI series and retaining the Women’s Ashes on their tour of England, the Australia Women completed a T20I series win on Sunday. A victory by 7 wickets in Hove helped the visitors take a 2-0 lead in the 3-match T20I series. A collective effort with the ball from the Southern Stars limited the home team to 121/8. Australia were three down for 34 runs on the board by the start of 7th over. However, Meg Lanning (43*) and Ellyse Perry (47*) added an unbeaten 87-run stand for the 4th wicket to finish off the chase with 13 balls to spare.

Here are the statistical highlights win from Australia Women’s yet another win in the Women’s Ashes:

End of England’s streaks:

9 – This series defeat brought an end to England Women’s T20I bilateral series winning streak. They won nine bilateral T20I series in a succession since losing to Australia Women during the 2013/14 Ashes (1-2 margin in a 3-match series).

2010 – This was the first time since the start of 2011 that the England Women failed to win a T20I series/tournament they played at home. They won in 11 out of the previous 12 T20I series/tournaments while a series against Pakistan in 2013 ended in 1-1. England Women’s last T20I series loss at home came in the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand in 2010 which they lost by a 1-2 margin.

A special achievement for Perry:

1 – Ellyse Perry became the first player in the history of T20I cricket (Men or Women) to achieve the double of 1000+ runs and 100+ wickets. Perry now has 1005 runs in her 104-match T20I career including the 47 runs she scored in this game. She has taken 103 wickets in this format and is only one of the two players with 100+ T20I scalps.

Invincible Lanning against England:

333 – Meg Lanning now has scored 333 runs without getting dismissed in T20I cricket against England Women since the start of 2018. Across five innings in this span, Lanning scored two fifties and a record 133* in the last game. Since the start of 2016, Lanning scored 388 runs from six T20I innings against England Women and has been dismissed only once.

A tough series for Amy Jones:

4 – Amy Jones bagged four ducks in the ongoing Ashes series; 2 in ODIs and 2 in T20Is. She is the first player to bag four ducks in a Women’s Ashes. Amy is also the first to bag two ducks during a T20I series part of Women’s Ashes.

A new milestone for Lanning:

303 – Meg Lanning completed 300 fours in T20I cricket with the 2nd of the five fours she hit during this game. She is only the 3rd player to hit 300 fours in T20Is after Suzie Bates (347) and Charlotte Edwards (338).

England’s toughest venue:

4 – England Women now have lost four out of five T20I matches they played at the County Ground in Hove. This is the first venue where they have has lost as many as four T20Is. Two of those four defeats came against Australia Women.
