Stats: Batsmen fastest to 1000 runs in Youth ODIs

The young batting sensation of India Shubman Gill has become the fastest cricketer to reach the milestone of 1000 runs in Youth ODIs on Friday. India U19 locked horns with Bangladesh U19 in the fourth and final quarter-final in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup. Gill led the batting effort of the Boys in Blue in Queenstown by scoring 86 runs off just 94 balls with 9 fours which helped the team post a more than competitive total of 265 after 50 overs.

He has been exceptional so far and is being hailed as Don Bradman of U19 cricket for his amazing consistency with the bat. Bangladesh were bowled out for 134 chasing a stiff total as India booked their semi-final clash against the arch-rivals Pakistan.

Shubman Gill reached the milestone of 1000 runs only in his 13th innings on Friday and became the quickest ever to the landmark. So far in his short career, Gill has amassed 1016 runs in just 13 outings with the bat at a staggering average of 101.6 with three centuries and 6 half-centuries to his name. His strike-rate is more or less around 100 everytime which proves that he is an aggressive player as well.

The 18-year-old is racking up the records and might well soon be picked for the national side if he continues to amaze the cricket fans.

Who are the other youngsters?

Shubman Gill trumped another Indian superstar Unmukt Chand who had scored 1000 runs in 17 innings. Chand has also led the team to the title glory in the U19 World Cup but faded since then. The third cricketer on this list is also an Indian, Tanmay Srivastava, who reached the coveted landmark in 23 innings with the bat. The likes of Quinton de Kock and Ahmed Shehzad have also made it to the charts and also went on to represent their country at the highest level.

Similarly, Shubman Gill will hope that he continues in the same vein and soon make his debut for the national side to rack up the runs like never before.
