Stats: David Warner becomes first batsman to aggregate over 500 runs in four successive IPL seasons

The Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner has been in a scintillating form this season. It comes as no surprise to see the Australian batsman call the shots in the Indian Premier League. He has been a perennial run-getter in the shortest format of the game. His form seems to double up every time he arrives in India for the IPL. Warner recently achieved the unique distinction of arguably being the most consistent batsman in the tournament across seasons.

David Warner became the first batsman to score in excess of 500 runs in four consecutive editions of the tournament. The Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper has crossed the milestone mark in 2014, 2015, 2016 and the 2017 edition of the tournament. Warner broke the previous best held by Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Chris Gayle. Gayle had registered aggregates in excess of 500 in 2011, 2012, and 2013 edition of the tournament.

Talking about David Warner, the SRH skipper was instrumental in the previous edition of the tournament. His exploits at the top of the order helped the Sunrisers rally along in the tournament. Combined with efforts of Shikhar Dhawan in the opening slot, the duo gave brilliant starts to the team. SRH eventually went on to win the IPL 2016 riding on his superlative run of form.

Warner had accumulated 848 runs in the previous edition in the 17 matches that he had played. He was second in the list of leading run-scorers in the edition, next to Virat Kohli, who had a tally of 973 runs in the season. He had given a stiff competition to Kohli in the race for the Orange Cap.

This season, he is currently the leading run scorer and the proud holder of the Orange Cap at the moment with 535 runs to his name as on May 9, 2017.
