Stats: Eoin Morgan completes 5000 ODI runs for England

England’s limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan achieved a rare feat of scoring 5000 runs in ODI cricket for the England side during the Champions Trophy semi-final game against Pakistan. Morgan thus becomes only the 3rd player after Ian Bell and Paul Collingwood to score 5000 ODI runs for England.

Morgan, in fact, has an aggregate of 5772 runs in the ODI format but he has scored 744 runs for Ireland till 2009 before moving to England. Ian Bell has scored the most runs for England in the ODIs with 5416 runs while Paul Collingwood scored 5092 runs.

Morgan walked out to bat with his side’s score at 80/2 and 4995 ODI runs on his name for England. He completed the 5000-run milestone in his 151st ODI innings during his knock of 33 runs in 53 balls with 4 fours before he was caught behind in Hasan Ali’s bowling.

He has scored 39 fifty-plus scores while playing for England; the joint-most number of fifty-plus scores by a player for the England team in ODI cricket. Bell also has 39 fifty-plus scores in ODI cricket. He is also one of the 3 players who have scored at least 10 centuries for England in this format. Marcus Trescothick has got the highest number of centuries for England with 12 on his name while Joe Root also has scored 10 hundreds in ODIs as many as Morgan.
