Stats: Evin Lewis becomes the quickest to 150 sixes in T20 cricket

While Chris Gayle made history by becoming the first player to hit 100 sixes in the Twenty20 International cricket during England-Windies T20I game at Durham, his partner Evin Lewis completed 150 sixes in his Twenty20 career. The left-hander from Trinidad hit three sixes during the T20I game against England with the 2nd six being the 150th in the T20 format.

The 25-year-old needed just 70 innings to hit 150 maximums in this format thus becoming the quickest to reach the milestone. In the process, Lewis broke Gayle’s record, his partner at St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in CPL and the Windies national team. Gayle took only 72 innings for completing 150 sixes, but two more than what Lewis needed. The destructive left-handers are two of the five players who have taken less than 100 innings to hit 150 sixes in the Twenty20 format.

Quickest to 150 sixes in Twenty20 cricket:

Evin Lewis is not only the quickest to 150 sixes but also the quickest to reach 100 sixes in Twenty20s. During the T20I series between Pakistan and Windies played in West Indies earlier this year, Lewis became the quickest player to complete 100 sixes in the format. He needed only 55 innings for his 100th T20 six, two innings less than Ross Taylor who was the previous fastest.

Lewis raced from 100 to 150 sixes in just 15 innings in the shortest format of the game and was pretty similar to Chris Gayle, who took 13 innings to advance from 100 to 150 T20 sixes. Gayle was the 3rd quickest to complete 100 sixes taking only 59 innings. Evin Lewis is currently at his peak in this format and has hit 62 sixes in just 19 innings in 2017 scoring 728 runs at an average of 42.82 and a strike rate of 168.51. Staring from his century against India last year at Lauderhill, Lewis has hit 80 sixes in 26 innings and scored 970 runs at a strike-rate of 170.47.
