Stats: Fakhar Zaman scores twin fifties on Test debut for Pakistan

Fakhar Zaman made a solid start to his Test career as he did in ODI cricket scoring fifties in both the innings on his Test debut. Facing Australia in the series-decider Test in Abu Dhabi, the opener scored 94 in the first innings witnessing as many as four wickets going down at the same score. He went on to share a 147-run partnership with his skipper Sarfraz Ahmed as Pakistan finished with 282 in their first innings and later took a 137-run lead by bowling out the Aussies to 145.
In the second innings, Fakhar got an opportunity to play his natural game as he scored an 83-ball 66 with seven boundaries. He reached his second fifty of the game in only 53 balls which is the second fastest fifty by a Pakistan player on Test debut. During Ireland’s debut Test, Faheem Ashraf scored a fifty in his maiden Test innings in 52 deliveries. Zaman became only the 3rd Pakistan player and the 39th overall to hit twin fifties on Test debut.
Azhar Mahmood remained unbeaten in both the innings in his Test debut in the 1997 Rawalpindi Test where he scored 128 and 50 respectively. Yasir Hameed scored twin centuries when he made his debut against Bangladesh in the 2003 Karachi Test. He is one of the two players to score twin tons on Test debut. Umar Akmal was last Pakistan player to have scored twin fifties on Test debut which he got in the 2009 Dunedin Test against the Kiwis.
In the first innings, Fakhar got out to Marnus Labuschagne after scoring 94. Thus, he became only the 31st player and the 3rd from Pakistan to be dismissed in the 90s on Test debut. Abdul Kadir got out on 95 in the 1964 Karachi Test against Australia while Taslim Arif made 90 in the Kolkata Test match against India in 1980. In the 2003 Lahore Test against South Africa, Asif Kamal got out on 99 on his debut thus becoming only the 3rd such player.
