Stats: Fastest centuries for Zimbabwe in ODI cricket

Zimbabwe have finally had their senior batsman Hamilton Masakadza making a good contribution to the team’s score he had just 162 runs to his name in the last 10 ODI innings coming into the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka at Hambantota. Showing signs of form with a 41-run knock in the previous match, Hamilton carried on from there in the 3rd ODI scoring a quick-fire century against the hosts.

The right-hander brought up his century of just 83 balls to record the 3rd fastest century by a Zimbabwe player in ODI cricket. He scored 111 runs during his innings from just 98 balls with 15 fours and a six before holing out in Wanidu Hasaranga’s bowling.

Brendon Taylor holds the record for the fastest century in ODI cricket by a Zimbabwe batsman by virtue of his 79-ball ton against Ireland in 2015 World Cup. Solomon Mire’s 85-ball hundred in the first ODI of SL-ZIM series now stands at No.5 in the list of fastest ODI tons for Zimbabwe post-Masakadza’s hundred.

This was Masakadza’s century No.5 in ODI cricket with which he became only the 4th player to score 5 ODI hundreds for Zimbabwe. The 33-year-old scored his last ODI century against Afghanistan in January 2016 and managed to average just 16.2 in the next 10 innings with the highest score of 41 coming in the 2nd ODI of the ongoing Sri Lanka series.
