Stats: Harmanpreet Kaur's record breaking inning
Harmanpreet hit 7 sixes; the joint 2nd most by any Woman in an ODI innings.
Harmanpreet Kaur played one of the most devastating innings ever in ODI cricket against Australia in Women’s World Cup semi-final which will end up among the greatest ever in the history given the occasion. She blasted an unbeaten 171 off just 115 balls with help of 20 fours and 7 sixes facing the mighty Aussie bowling attack.
Harmanpreet was batting on 58 in 70 balls but scored 123 runs in the next 45 balls she faced at an insane strike rate of 273.33. With help of her innings, India cruised to 281/4 in the restricted 42 overs after a delayed start, about 70 runs more than what one would have expected after the kind of start they got.
Her inning of 171 is the highest by an Indian in Women’s World Cup; 62 more than the previous best of 109 scored by Mithali Raj against New Zealand in their previous game. Overall, this is the 5th highest individual score in Women’s ODI cricket and the 2nd highest by an Indian Women behind Deepti Sharma’s 188-run effort against Ireland a couple of months ago.

Kaur’s 171* is now the highest individual score in a Women’s ODI knockout game overhauling the previous highest of 108* by Mithali Raj in 2006 Asia Cup final by 63 runs. Prior to the Indian right-hander only Australia’s Karen Rolton had scored a century in Women’s World Cup knockout game. Rolton had scored 107* vs India in the 2005 WWC final. Harmanpreet’s effort stands as the 4th highest in the ODI knockout games including Men’s ODIs as well. She, in fact, became the first ever Indian to score a 150+ in an ODI knockout match.
