Stats: Highest totals by Pakistan in ODI cricket

The ongoing five-match rubber between Pakistan and Zimbabwe is likely to go down as one of the most one-sided ODI series ever. The visitors have thumped rather annihilated the depleted Men in Red in all the games so far and the fourth match of the series was no different with records tumbling with every passing over. Pakistan posted their highest ever ODI score of 399 runs for the loss of a solitary wicket in 50 overs courtesy of the heroic double century from Fakhar Zaman.

After opting to bat first, the duo Fakhar and Imam-ul-Haq started in spanking fashion and made full use of the fielding restrictions in the first 10 overs. The hosts would’ve hoped for some semblance after spreading the field but what followed was an absolute carnage. Fakhar was in the mood to smash every delivery and he was being presented with the same thanks to Zimbabwe’s bowlers.

His partner Imam-ul-Haq also played some delightful shots which were pleasing to the eyes and in no time both of them crossed the three-figure mark. They also created by adding more than 300 runs for the first wicket and the first wicket fell on 304 in the 42nd over. Imam was sent back on 113 by Wellington Masakadza but then Asif Ali was promoted to have some fun and he brought his hitting capabilities to the fore.

95 runs were scored in the last 8 overs by Pakistan as Fakhar Zaman reached he dream landmark of 200 runs and became the sixth batsman in the World to do so. Asif also smashed a 22-ball half-century but unfortunately, the team’s score fell short of 400 just by one run. However, Pakistan registered their highest total in the ODIs ever by posting a mammoth 399 runs in 50 overs.

Record was broken after 8 years

385 was the previously the highest total for the Men in Green which they had scored against Bangladesh in Dambulla in 2010. Sarfraz Ahmed and his men have been exceptional for the last couple of years and they have scaled many milestones in the ongoing series. Their fans would be hoping that the team continues to play in the same vein in the near future and do well in the World Cup next year as well.
