Stats: Highest successful run-chases in Champions Trophy
Out of the top 5 successful run chases in the CT, two have been by England while other 3 interestingly are against them.
The 2017 edition of Champions Trophy began with the hosts England successfully chasing the 306-run target set by Bangladesh in the opening game; the maiden 300+ run-chase in the history of the tournament. The CT hasn’t been a stage of hosting big scorers in its first 7 editions as only 11 scores of 300+ have been recorded in over 100 games.
However, the first game of the 8th season set a record for the highest successful run-chase as England broke the previous record of the 294-run chase by Sri Lanka against them achieved in the 2013 edition at the same venue. England’s previous successful run chase came in CT 2006 when they chased down 273 against West Indies at Ahmedabad losing 7 wickets.
