T20 format despite being one of the most popular formats of cricket around the world heavily follows the “Football” model; the club and domestic games are contended with more fervor and excitement than the international T20 games. T20I games, in general, are just a part and parcel of an international tour. But that doesn’t take away the importance of the World T20.

It hasn’t been 24 months yet, since the last T20 World Cup. But the whole dynamics of the team hierarchy has literally flipped on itself. All in a span of just about 10 matches for each team between these months.

International heavy weight Australia have played the least amount of T20I games since World T20, amongst Test playing nations, along with West Indies. Despite having an explosive T20 squad, their performance at the international level still remains uncoordinated and inconsistent. Despite coming fresh from Big Bash League, their best were hammered by a clinical Indian team earlier this year. Their form might have been shady in the shortest format, but Australia will remain a favorite in the upcoming tournament.
