Stats: Highest wicket-takers for India in Champions Trophy

Ravindra Jadeja became the India’s leading wicket-taker in the Champions Trophy history during the semi-final of the Champions Trophy 2017. With the wicket of Shakib Al Hasan, Jadeja increased his wickets tally in CT to 16, going past Zaheer Khan’s 15 wickets.

Thought Jadeja has picked up only 4 wickets in 4 games in this edition of CT, the 12 wickets he took in the 2013 edition helped him become India’s highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament. Jadeja also holds the record for the best bowling figures in Champions Trophy by an Indian. In fact, he is the only Indian to take a 5-fer in this tournament so far. Zaheer who played 9 games in CT between 2000 and 2002 picked up 15 wickets but couldn’t add more wickets to his name despite playing the ODI format till 2012.

The 3rd spot is shared between Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh who have taken 14 wickets each in this tournament. Sachin’s name is a surprise for one and all but the legendary batsman managed to roll his arm more than often in early editions of the tournament and has a 4-wicket haul as well. Harbhajan took his 14 wickets in CT at a slightly higher average of 35.14 in the 13 games he played.

Ishant Sharma also has a pretty good record in this tournament as he has taken 13 wickets in the 7 games he played in the previous two editions and stands at No.5 in the highest wicket-takers list for India in CT. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who also featured in the semi-final vs Bangladesh picked up two wickets to move up to the 6th on this list. Bhuvneshwar has 12 wickets in the 9 CT games so far.
