Stats: India succumb to a total of 92 against New Zealand in the 4th ODI

After clinching the series, India produced one of their worst batting performances as they were bundled out for just 92 runs in the 4th ODI in Hamilton. Rohit Sharma led the team in the absence of Virat Kohli while MS Dhoni too wasn’t fit to return to the playing XI. After a 21-run opening stand, Trent Boult’s fearsome 5-wicket haul had India down to 55/8. The duo of wrist spinners added 25 runs for the 9th wicket to take India out of further embarrassment.

2 – Only twice in ODI cricket that a No.10 or lower position batsman top-scored for India. Javagal Srinath scored 43 batting at No.10 against Pakistan in the 1996 Toronto ODI to be the top scorer for India. Chahal ended up with an unbeaten 18; two more than his ODI tally before this match.

18* – Yuzvendra Chahal’s unbeaten 18 is the highest score for India in this game. This is only the 3rd ODI where no India batsman managed to cross 20-run mark. India had a highest individual score of 11 runs when they were bowled out for 54 against Sri Lanka in 2000 Sharjah ODI and 17 during the 1986 Kanpur ODI also against Sri Lanka.

35 – The 35 runs India aggregated at the loss of their 6th wicket are the 2nd fewest by them in an ODI. Their lowest score at the fall of the 6th wicket was 28 during the 2017 Dharamshala ODI against Sri Lanka.

40 – India lost their 7th wicket at the score of 40 runs in this game. This is the 2nd lowest India made before losing their 7th wicket in ODI cricket behind the 29 runs during the 2017 ODI against Sri Lanka, which was Rohit’s maiden ODI as captain.

55 – The 55 runs India posted before the loss of their 8th wicket are the 3rd fewest by them in an ODI. They lost their 8th wicket at the score of 44 in the 2005 Bulawayo ODI also against New Zealand and were 49/8 against Sri Lanka during the 2000 Sharjah ODI in which they registered their lowest ODI total.

92 – India’s total of 92/10 is their 2nd lowest total in ODI cricket against New Zealand. Their lowest ODI total against the Kiwis is 88/10 in the 2010 Dambulla ODI.

92 – The 92/10 by India is also their 7th lowest overall in the ODI cricket and the 3rd lowest while batting first. They were bowled out for 63 against Australia in the 1981 Sydney ODI and 79/10 against Pakistan in the 1978 Sialkot ODI.

92 – The total of 92 is also the 5th lowest ODI total by any team in New Zealand and the 3rd lowest by the visiting team. Pakistan were bowled out for 74 in the last year’s Dunedin ODI while England managed 89 in the 2002 Wellington game.
