Cheteshwar Pujara, with a six off Adil Rashid on Day 1 in the 2nd Test match against England brought up his 10th Test century in Vizag With that, Rahul became the 13th Indian to complete a Test century by scoring a six.
Overall, Pujara’s century was the 19th instance of an Indian getting to his Test century with a six. 6 of the 19 instances where recorded by Sachin Tendulkar, which is the world record as well.
Apart from Sachin, only Gautam Gambhir brought up his century with a six on two different occasions in Test cricket.
Polly Umrigar was the first Indian to reach the triple figures mark with a six and he did that against West Indies at Port of Spain in 1953 during his knock of 130. The first 3 instances from Indian players came against West Indies. Overall, Indians have brought up their Test centuries with a six on 5 instances against West Indies and Australia.
