Ishan Kishan had an ordinary start to the season scoring 93 runs in the ‘A’ team Quadrangular tournament and only scored 30 runs across two innings of the Duleep Trophy game. He has now taken up the keeping and captaincy responsibilities of the Jharkhand team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kishan was dismissed for just one run in the small chase against Rajasthan in the game which will be remembered for Shahbaz Nadeem’s record figures in List A cricket.
However, the young keeper-captain bounced back with a brilliant batting effort in their 3rd game against Assam. Kishan scored 139 in just 91 deliveries in the game played at the Chepauk chasing a target of 222. He shared a 200-run opening partnership with Anand Singh who made 58 off 63. Both fell in the 26th over after registering the first double century opening stand for Jharkhand in List A format. Kishan brought up his fifty in 51 balls but needed only 23 more deliveries to reach 100.

This was Ishan Kishan’s second List A century; he scored his first against Services in the 2017/18 Vijay Hazare Trophy in 73 balls which is the fastest List A century for Jharkhand. His innings of 139 comprised of 12 fours and nine sixes. His 139 now stands alongside MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar in the list of highest One-Day scores at the Chepauk Stadium. This list is headed by Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar who set the ODI record with his 194 in 1997 against India.
A captain’s knock from Kishan helped Jharkhand chase down the target with eight wickets and 19 overs to spare. The nine sixes hit are the joint second most in an Indian in a List A Inter-State match. Three players including Shreyas Iyer on Sunday hit as many as ten sixes in an innings.
Yusuf Pathan appears twice in this list by the virtue of his efforts while playing for Baroda. Five players including Kishan hit nine sixes in an innings with two of them joining during their knocks in 2017/18 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
