Indian pace bowling legend Jhulan Goswami etched her name in the record books by becoming the highest wicket-taker in the history of the fifty over World Cup. The right-arm pace bowling colossus has now taken 40 wickets in her World Cup career and has overtaken Lyn Fullston, who took 39 wickets.

Goswami is a veteran of the game and is currently playing her fifth World Cup for the Indian side. Goswami boasts of excellent numbers in World Cup cricket. The 39-year-old pace bowler has featured in 31 matches for India in World Cup cricket and averages a miserly 20.77.

Goswami has also leaked runs at an economy rate of just 3.37 runs per over in the World Cup as well. Meanwhile, India posted their second win in the multi-nation tournament by beating the West Indies in their third match of the 2022 World Cup.

Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur help India hammer West Indies

After choosing to bat first, the Indian side posted a total of 317/8 on the board. Opener Smriti Mandhana (123 runs) and Harmanpreet Kaur (109 runs) put on a mammoth partnership of 184 runs for the 4th wicket to power India past the 300-run mark.

Anisa Mohammed was the pick of the bowlers for the West Indies side and scalped two wickets in her nine-over spell. In reply, the West Indian openers, Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews put on a blistering 100-run opening stand in just 12.2 overs.

And, it seemed as if West Indies were well on course for a victory. But after that, the Stafanie Taylor-led outfit lost wickets in a heap and was bowled out for a total of 162. Apart from Dottin and Matthews, who scored 62 and 43 respectively, none of the other West Indian willow wielders could even cross the 20-run mark. Sneh Rana scalped three wickets with the ball for the Mithali Raj-led outfit. Smriti Mandhana won the Player of the Match award for her rollicking knock with the willow in hand.
