Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal continued their batting form in the final game of the 3-match ODI series Zimbabwe where they help the team to affect whitewash. Liton scored 176 from just 143 balls with 16 fours and 8 sixes while Tamim played an anchor role scoring 128 from 109 deliveries. The opening pair powered Bangladesh’s total to 322/3 with 140 runs coming across 9.4 overs after the rain interruption. The game was halted by the rain when Bangladesh were cruising at 182/0 in 33.2 overs. More than two hours of play was lost during this break which saw the game getting reduced to 43 overs-a-side.

1 – Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal became the first pair of openers to score centuries in the same match for Bangladesh in ODI cricket. This was overall the 4th instance of two players scoring hundreds in an ODI for Bangladesh – vs Pakistan in 2015 Dhaka ODI, vs New Zealand in 2017 CT and vs Zimbabwe in 2018 Chattogram ODI.


1 – The partnership of 292 between Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das is now Bangladesh’s highest partnership for any wicket in ODI cricket. The previous highest was 224 for the 5th wicket between Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah against New Zealand in 2017 Champions Trophy.

The Tamim-Liton partnership was the first-ever 200+ opening stand for Bangladesh in ODI cricket and also the 3rd highest ODI partnership for the first wicket. John Campbell and Shai Hope added 365 against Ireland last year while Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq put on 304 against Zimbabwe in 2018.


2 – Number of wicketkeepers with a total higher ODI score higher than the 176 by Liton Das. MS Dhoni scored an unbeaten 183 against Sri Lanka in the 2005 Jaipur ODI while Quinton de Kock scored 178 in the 2016 Centurion ODI against Australia also while opening the batting.


8 – The 8 sixes by Liton Das in this match are the most by a Bangladesh player in an ODI inning. The previous most was 7 sixes by Tamim Iqbal against Zimbabwe in the 2010 Chattogram ODI where he scored 95. No player before Liton hit as many as 8 sixes in an International match for Bangladesh.


14 – Tamim (6) and Liton (8) collectively scored 14 sixes in this match which are the most by Bangladesh in an ODI/International match. The previous most sixes they struck in an ODI match were 11 during the 2019 Tri-series match against Ireland. Bangladesh never hit more than 12 sixes in an International before this game.


112 – Liton Das became the first player to score 100+ runs for Bangladesh through boundaries in an ODI inning. Tamim Iqbal’s 98 runs in the last match were the previous most runs scored by a Bangladesh player via boundaries in an ODI.


176 – Liton’s 176-run knock is now the highest individual score for Bangladesh in the ODI format surpassing Tamim Iqbal’s 158 in the previous match of this series. No player barring Liton and Tamim have recorded a 150+ score in ODIs for Bangladesh.


176 – The 176 by Liton Das is also the 3rd highest ODI score on Bangladesh soil. Shane Watson scored an unbeaten 185 during the 2011 Dhaka ODI while Virat Kohli scored 183 against Pakistan during the 2012 Asia Cup; both were recorded during run-chases.
