Stats: Most sixes in India in T20 cricket

Suresh Raina has come back in form in style by smashing a sensational ton against Bengal at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Uttar Pradesh and Manoj Tiwary led side in the Super League of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Monday. The skipper Raina led from the front and scored 126 off just 59 deliveries as UP finished on a mammoth total of 235 runs after their 20 overs. However, he also completed 200 sixes in the shortest format of the game while playing in India.

The left-hander started his innings at 198 sixes and whacked as many as seven maximums during his innings to go with 13 fours. He has now become only the third player to achieve the feat and the second Indian. The knock has come at a correct time for Raina as the IPL is commencing soon and it was important for him to get back into the groove soon.

Only one foreigner in the list

Suresh Raina is only behind Rohit Sharma and Chris Gayle who have already crossed the mark of 200 sixes in India. The Universe Boss is leading in this case as he has hit a mammoth 288 sixes in just 104 matches. The Hitman of India is way behind him with 209 sixes in 181 outing in the T20s at home. However, Raina has also taken a whopping 191 matches to reach the landmark in this format. Gayle though is all-time great in the 20-over tussle who has won matches single-handedly with his magical knocks.

Yusuf Pathan, one of the best T20 batsman going around, is next in this list with 192 sixes and is expected to complete the double century of his maximums in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). When it comes to hitting gigantic sixes, two of India’s superstars, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, have to be on the charts. While the former has smashed the ball out of the ground 187 times, the sixer king of India has done it 182 times in his career.
