It was MS Dhoni who turned out to be the saviour for the Indians who found themselves in trouble batting first in the 3rd ODI after not getting a good start on a pitch which was getting better as the match progressed. The former Indian captain walked out to bat in the 27th over after the dismissal of Yuvraj Singh at the score of 100.
Dhoni took a bit longer than usual before going for his shots as he managed to hit just one boundary in the first 52 balls he faced by the end of 40th over scoring 29 runs. However, once Ajinkya Rahane got out after a gritty 72-run knock, Dhoni decided to push the scoring rate up along with Kedar Jadhav.
He added 21 runs in the next 14 balls to complete his 63rd ODI half century. This was his 113th fifty-plus score in his International career, the 2nd most by any wicketkeeper.
