Unlike how the appearances in most World Cup editions is valued, the appearances in most Champions Trophy editions hasn’t attained enough acknowledgement. Only 7 CTs have been played thus far. However, no player in the history has featured in all the 7 editions but 8 players have featured in 6 different editions.
During the ongoing 2017 edition, the Pakistan all-rounder, Shoaib Malik has achieved the rare feat of appearing in the 6 different Champions Trophies as he featured in the previous 5 editions of the tournament from 2002 to 2013. Among the 8 players who have featured in 6 CT editions are Mark Boucher, Rahul Dravid, Sanath Jayasuriya, Jacques Kallis and Ricky Ponting featured in all the first 6 editions.
Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara featured in 6 straight CT editions from 2000 after missing the inaugural tournament in 1998 while Daniel Vettori could have been the one to play in all the 7 previous editions had he not missed the one in 2000.
