This was only the 2nd time Chris Gayle was dismissed by the first delivery of the game. Doug Bollinger claimed his on the very first ball of in the 2010 Adelaide ODI.

Gayle also became the first player to be dismissed by the first ball of an ODI at the Harare Sports Club which is hosting its 144th ODI match. Overall, Scotland became only the 3rd Associate team to take a wicket by the first ball of an ODI against a full member nation. Bangladesh‘s Saiful Islam dismissed AP Gurusinha of Sri Lanka in 1995 Asia Cup before becoming a Test playing nation. Brendan Taylor of Zimbabwe got out by the first delivery against Canada in the 2011 CWC game.

Adam Gilchrist got out by the first ball in ODIs on three occasions which the most for any player.
