Stats: Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer power Mumbai to 400 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy

Mumbai continued to bat out their opponents in the Vijay Hazare Trophy thanks to some brilliant performances from their top three. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane failed to maintain his run of big knocks in the 3rd game and was dismissed for just three against Railways. Young Prithvi Shaw followed up his fifties from the previous two matches with a 61-ball century. He scored 129 from just 81 balls which included 14 fours and six sixes.

Iyer, who contributed only 53 runs during the 161-run stand in 20 overs with Prithvi, took on the Railways bowlers after the youngster’s departure. The Indian discard hit as many as ten sixes and eight fours for his 118-ball 144. Surya Kumar Yadav struck a 55-ball 67 as Mumbai ended up with 400/5 on the board in their 50 overs.

10 – The ten sixes Shreyas Iyer hit during his century are the joint most in a domestic List A game. Siddharth Chitnis had hit ten sixes for Mumbai against Maharashtra in 2010/11 while Yusuf Pathan has done that twice for Baroda. The dashing all-rounder hit ten sixes against Maharashtra in 2009/10 and also vs Saurashtra in 2010/11.

10 – Iyer’s ten sixes are also the second most in a List A game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Rohit Sharma hit an ODI record 16 sixes during his 209-run knock against Australia in 2013. Shreyas hit eight sixes in the game against Karnataka at this venue a couple of days ago which is the 3rd most in an innings at this venue.

13.33 – Railways’ bowler Ankit Yadav conceded 80 runs in his six overs at an economy of 13.33. He is only the 5th bowler to concede runs at an economy rate of 13 and more in a List A match. (Min: 80 runs)

Mohit Sharma’s 1/84 in his seven overs at an economy of 12 against South Africa in the 2015 Mumbai ODI is the previous most expensive bowling by an Indian in a List A game.

61 – Prithvi Shaw’s century in this game is his maiden List A century for Mumbai. His 61-ball fifty is the joint fastest List A hundred for Mumbai. Rajesh Sutar also scored 61-ball century for Mumbai in 1996 against Maharashtra.

Sutar had two centuries in his professional career; both in the List A format. His first ton came off 63 balls against Maharashtra in 1996 only. It is the 2nd fastest century for Mumbai in the List A format.

400/5 – Mumbai’s total of 400/5 in this game is only the 2nd instance when a team scored 400 in a Domestic List A game. Madhya Pradesh scored 412/6 also against Railways in the 2009/10 Vijay Hazare Trophy match in Indore.

400 – Mumbai became the first team to breach the 400-run mark in List A cricket at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The previous highest List A total at this venue was 383/6 by India against Australia in 2013.

Bangalore is now the 6th Indian venue to witness a 400+ total in List A cricket. The Corporation Ground in Rajkot and the Holkar Stadium in Indore witnessed two 400+ totals in this format.
