Subramaniam Badrinath joined the elite list of players with 10000 runs in first-class cricket while playing for Hyderabad in the 7th round of Ranji Trophy against Chhattisgarh.

Badrinath now become the 47th Indian to complete 10000 runs in the format. Cheteshwar Pujara and Mohammad Kaif are the recent inclusions to this list who also reached the landmark in 2016. Badrinath took just 209 innings to complete this milestone becoming the joint 8th quickest Indian to this milestone.

The Tamil Nadu batsman made a shift to Vidarbha in 2014/15 season after scoring bulk of his runs for his home team. After two ordinary seasons with the bat, the 36-year old made a transfer to Hyderabad for 2016/17 season.

Badrinath’s team-wise break up:

Batting at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium in Valsad on Monday, Badrinath completed the 10000-run milestone when he reached 89. He went on to make his 32nd first-class ton, the 24th in Ranji Trophy history and his first for Hyderabad team. The newcomers Chhattisgarh became the 16th team in Ranji Trophy to witness a century from Badrinath against them. Only 4 players have scored against more teams in Ranji history.

As at the end of the day, Badrinath has 7650 runs in Ranji Trophy, the 6th most by any player in the tournament’s history. He went past the likes of Rashmi Parida (7516), Shitanshu Kotak (7607), Pankaj Dharmani (7621) and Amarjit Kaypee (7623) during this innings.

Badrinath got out for 134, one run more than what he managed to score in previous 8 innings in this Ranji season, which includes two ducks. Had Badrinath added more runs in his previous outings, he could have been the 7th quickest Indian to the 10k-run milestone in FC cricket.
