Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja joined the elite list of players who have scored 1500 runs and taken 150 wickets in ODI cricket during the ongoing 3rd ODI game between India and England at the Eden Garden, Kolkata. Jadeja, who completed 150 ODI wickets in this game, became the first Indian left-arm spinner to take 150 wickets in this format.
The 28-year-old is now the 30th player and only the 5th Indian to achieve the double of 1500 runs and 150 wickets. South Africa and Pakistan too have 5 of their players making the all-round career double in ODIs. Among the 5 Indians, Jadeja is only the 2nd spinner after Sachin Tendulkar to achieve that. Jadeja took 129 games for this while all the 3 Indian pacers took fewer games than Jadeja to do the career double.

Among the 30 players who have done the rare ODI career double, Ravindra Jadeja is the 10th spinner. (Jadeja is 11th spinner if we consider Steve Waugh as a spinner as he bowled medium-pace as well on many occasions.) Among the 10 spinners, 4 are left-arm spinners including Jadeja. Interestingly, there have been only 6 left-arm spinners in ODI cricket who picked 150 wickets and 4 of them achieved the double of 1500 runs and 150 wickets.
With Jason Roy’s wicket, Jaddu not only achieved the feat but also became the first Indian left-arm spinner with 150 ODI wickets. Only two other left-arm spin bowlers from India have taken more than 100 ODI wickets. Ravi Shastri took 129 ODI wickets while Yuvraj Singh took ODI 111 wickets. (Yuvraj has 110 wickets for India with one wicket coming for Asia XI)
