Rishabh Pant had some a time behind the wickets where he was made to fly around for getting to the ball which kept swinging after passing the batsman. Pant didn’t have any success with the bat after opening his account with a six on debut. However, he utilized the conditions on the final day at The Oval batting with KL Rahul as the 20-year-old scored his maiden century for the Indian team.

Pant raised his century with a big six off Adil Rashid just before the Tea interval. In this process, he became the first Indian keeper to score a Test century in the 4th innings of a Test match. The previous highest was MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 76 in the 2011 Lord’s Test that ended in a draw. Pant got to his century in just 117 balls and shared a 204-run stand with Rahul coming in at 121/5.

Pant, thus became the 9th youngest Indian to score a Test century. He is also the second youngest Indian wicketkeeper to score a Test ton after Ajay Ratra who was 20 years and 148 days old when he started the Test match in which he scored an unbeaten 115. Pant was 20 years and 338 days old coming into this game.
