Stats: Rohit Sharma's sixes against Australia and at Bangalore

Rohit Sharma nearly repeated his six hitting act against Australia at Bangalore like he did during his maiden ODI double ton in 2013, where he struck a record 16 sixes. On Thursday, Rohit didn’t come close to that effort but still managed to hit a decent number of sixes, five in total. Earlier in the 3rd ODI at Indore, Rohit struck four mighty sixes during his 71-run knock, his highest score in this series so far.

The Indian opening batsman now has completed 50 sixes in ODI cricket against the Aussies, thus becoming the first Indian and the first player to hit 50 and more sixes against Australia in ODI cricket. Rohit’s tally of 53 sixes at the moment against Australia is bettered by only Shahid Afridi, who hit a total of 63 sixes against Sri Lanka in this format.

In the 27 innings Rohit has played against Australia, he hit 53 sixes at an average of 1.96 sixes per innings. His Sixes/Inns ratio against Australia is bettered by only Shane Watson (4) and Ricardo Powell (2) among the players who have hit over 20 sixes against an opposition in this format. Watson struck 20 sixes in just five innings against Bangladesh while Powell has 22 in 11 innings against India.

With the five sixes in the 4th ODI, Rohit now has a total of 22 sixes in just three innings at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Among Indian players, Rohit is only the 2nd player to hit over 20 ODI sixes at a venue with Sachin Tendulkar having hit 30 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Rohit’s ratio of 7.33 sixes per innings at Bangalore is the best for any player at a venue in ODIs and the 11.86 balls he takes for every six is the 2nd best behind Watson’s 8.4 balls per maximum at Dhaka.
